Sometimes it’s hard to see what comes next. Storytelling plays a key role in helping our discernment process. As you’ll see below I work with congregations in a variety of ways.
What I offer
The work I do with congregations isn’t for everyone. I’m interested in congregations who have a story to tell. They might feel stuck but are seeking out how the Spirit is calling them into something new. They might have done something new and want to share it with the world. It could be they want to learn to be better disciples and community partners.
Accompaniment
This work is done through my role with Juniper Formation. Working with Rev. Dr. Jenny Whitcher, we co-create programs with churches who are looking to be more involved in their communities through justice-based relationships. Using a community organizing framework we listen, teach, and work together to develop leadership and discern new areas for potential ministries.
Congregational storytelling
One of my recent projects involved helping a congregation tell their story about selling their building and developing affordable housing. I interviewed people associated with the project, wrote the stories, and built their website to share it with the world. You can see more at www.incairnation.org.
discernment
I’ve worked with congregations looking for what is next in their life together. In these situations I spend time preaching and leading worship, interviewing members and community partners, and developing themes from these stories for them to explore.
Forge a new path ahead together.
